What is Cresar ?
Cresar containing the active ingredient telmisartan is considered an angiotensin II receptor antagonist type of medication. The medication works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels to allow for easier blood flow and allow the heart to pump blood more efficiently. Keeping blood vessels from narrowing can help lower blood pressure and can be used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Treating high blood pressure can decrease the risk of suffering a stroke, heart attack or death in people 55 years of age or older who are at risk for cardiovascular disease.
How is Cresar used?
Cresar is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The drug may take up to 2 to 4 weeks before your blood pressure is under control. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you are feeling well, as high blood pressure often has no visible symptoms.
